2. The Dual-Layer Engineering
This belt is typically constructed by bonding a high-density black foam to a base belt, then finishing it with a specialized silicone top layer.
- The Black Foam: Acts as a mechanical “buffer.” In electroplating, products like lead frames or thin metal strips are extremely delicate. The foam allows the belt to absorb the pressure of the drive system, “nesting” the product to prevent bending or mechanical stress.
- The Silicone Coating: This is the functional shield. Silicone is one of the few materials that can withstand the aggressive chemistry of a plating tank without degrading. This is a special coating process, which is extremely soft with a Shore hardness of only 15A.

5. Advantages
This Black foam with silicone coated conveyor belt offers all the advantages of a silicone conveyor belt: it is environmentally friendly, wear-resistant, non-stick and insulating.
A. Non-Destructive “Gentle Grip”
Because the black foam is compressible, it distributes clamping force evenly across the surface of the metal part. The silicone coating provides a high-friction, “tacky” surface that prevents the parts from sliding, even when submerged in slippery plating solutions.
B. Superior Chemical & Heat Resistance
Electroplating involves exposure to acids, alkalis, and high temperatures (60℃-100℃}$ in many tanks).
- Silicones are chemically inert, meaning they won’t react with copper sulfate, nickel solutions, or gold plating baths.
- Temperature Stability: Unlike standard rubber or PVC, silicone remains flexible up to 200℃, ensuring the belt won’t become brittle or crack during long production runs.
C. Sealing and Protection
The soft nature of the 0-15 Shore A silicone/foam combination allows the belt to act as a masking seal. It conforms to the edges of the metal substrate, preventing the plating solution from “bleeding” into areas that should remain unplated.
