Precision Indexing with Cylindrical Cleat Technology

Our PU Timing Belts with Cylindrical Cleats are designed for applications that require more than just a flat transport surface. By welding high-strength polyurethane studs (cleats) onto the back of a timing belt, we create a synchronized carrier that can hold, push, or separate products with mathematical precision.

The cylindrical shape is particularly valued for its “point contact” properties, which allow for easy cleaning, minimal friction against the product, and the ability to hold round or irregularly shaped items (like tubes, vials, or electronic components) securely.

Key Performance Benefits:

  • Molecular Bonding: We use High-Frequency (HF) or Thermal Welding to fuse the cylindrical cleats directly to the belt base. This ensures the studs will not snap off, even under high-speed reciprocating movements.
  • Zero-Slip Synchronization: The timing belt teeth (T10, AT10, H, etc.) ensure that the cleats always remain in the exact position required by the automation software.
  • Abrasion Resistant PU: Made from 92 Shore A Polyurethane, providing excellent resistance to oils, chemicals, and wear.
  • Customizable Layouts: Cleats can be placed on every tooth, every second tooth, or in complex staggered patterns to fit your specific machinery.

Applications

Hardware Sorting: Organizing screws, bolts, or plastic parts into specific coun
Pharmaceutical Bottling: Separating vials or small bottles at high speeds for labeling or capping.
Electronic Assembly: Holding PCB boards or small components in place as they move through robot pick-and-place stations.
Food Packaging: Creating “pockets” for snacks or confectionery items to ensure consistent spacing for flow-wrap machines.

Yonghang Advice for Customization

  • The “Small Pulley” Constraint: Cylindrical cleats add stiffness to the back of the belt. If your drive pulley is too small, the cleats can create “stress cracks” at the base. Always ensure your pulley diameter is at least 20-30% larger than the standard minimum for a studded belt.
  • Hollow vs. Solid Studs: For very delicate products, we can provide hollow cylindrical cleats which offer a softer touch and more “give” upon contact.
  • Reinforcement: If the cleats are pushing heavy loads, we recommend using AT series (AT10/AT20) belts. The stronger tooth profile handles the increased shear force exerted by the cleats better than the standard T series.
