Applications

In the high-speed packaging industry, the Folder Gluer is prone to a specific defect: rear-edge creasing (also known as marking or “fishtailing”). This occurs when the trailing edge of a carton is struck by the mechanical folder or when there is uneven pressure during the transition to the compression section.

The Blue cover Sponge (Foam) Cover Conveyor Belt is the industry-standard solution to this problem.

The blue cover sponge layer acts as a mechanical buffer. It allows the trailing edge of the carton to slightly “nest” into the belt surface during the folding motion. This absorbs the kinetic energy of the folding hooks, preventing the force from concentrating on a single point of the cardboard.

Blue cover sponge (often made of high-density EPDM or specialized PU foam) provides a high coefficient of friction. Because the foam is compressible, it can grip the carton firmly enough for high-speed transport without needing the high “clamping pressure” that would otherwise crush the delicate fluting of corrugated boxes.
