They are available with a nylon layer that can be applied to the tooth side (NFT/PAZ). Various coatings can be applied to the reverse side to address different friction requirements. (silicone, rubber, foam, sponge, patterns, etc.)

It is possible to assemble an open PU timing belt using a melting tool into a welded timing belt of your desired length, however you will lose 50% of the tensile strength due to the use of steel reinforcement.
